I did not expect the response to be so positive… You may or may not know that Zombieinfo and Mayfair theatre did a little presentation a while ago (Sars Wars:Bankok Zombie Crisis) back on May 1, 2009 … well, it’s been a while but we’re gonna do another presentation- this time we are showing a horror classic, Tobe Hooper’s the FUNHOUSE! March 19th 11:55 in case you missed it the first time- but I’ll remind you a few times I’m sure!
Anyway, I posted that I’d be updating regularly on what the horror and cult films happening at the Mayfair- I ended up with a bunch of e-mails asking what and when! Coolness. Now, I could be a total prick and ask WHY didn’t you check the Mayfair Schedule?!?!? But that would be silly.
Here is the list of ‘Zombieking approved’ showings at the Mayfair theatre- 1074 Bank Street, Ottawa, ON, Canada for the month of March:
(by the way, I in NO way influence the choices of these films- I just approve of them being played… FUCK YEAH, FUNHOUSE!)
Saturday the 6th- Dreamscape- that fucking snakeman scared the shit out of me (when I was like… 8 ) Not technically a horroe, but damn if it isn’t a cool idea.
Friday the 12th- Near Dark – These fuckers don’t sparkle… gritty as fuck- an amazing vampire film.
Saturday March 13th- Mad (Motherfucking) Max!!! – cult as fuck. If you don’t know this one… go- get educated. and for gods sake don’t tell anyone you’ve never seen this…
Friday March 19th- The Funhouse- Yeah, I know I said it earlier but I’m going in order of date here…
Saturday March 20th- The Room – I’ve not seen it, but I hear it’s horrible… and that’s the POINT. Only horrifying as to how terribad it is.
Wednesday March 24th- Cube – One of the greatest Canadian movies ever made in my opinion. Paranoia filmed to perfection. SEE IT!
March 25, 28th and 29th- Daybreakers – Made by the guys who brought you Undead, Vampires rule the world and we are their free range food… niiiice.
And finally- the MOTHER of all performances… March 26th and 27th (and the show is licensed)
Night of the Living Dead LIVE!!!!
This one is a very cool idea:
Take the zombie cornerstone classic Night of the Living Dead, put it up on the big screen and turn off the volume. Now, mash in live actors, an orchestra and foley artists, and you get the next mad genius experiment from the theatre that brought you Silents is Golden!
$20 advance tickets are available for members, students and seniors.
This event is licensed for alcohol! We’re serving Beau’s Lugtread lager and all drink proceeds benefit Negative Theatre.
Now you may wonder- why isn’t Zombieinfo presenting this one? (I’ve already had this question) Simple: because I’m promoting the FUNHOUSE already this month…I can’t do it all!!! You can bet I will be there though- this looks HELLA fun… here’s the poster (CLICK FOR FULL SIZE):
