Dead Matter- Directed by Edward Douglas

Ok…I’m going to go ‘off’ my regular rating scale here…and why? Simple: this movie is an independent film. Why should it be treated differently than any other film? Simple again: It looks like a full on Hollywood production.

‘The Dead Matter’ is the first full-length film conceived and directed by Midnight Syndicate founder, Edward Douglas. What?!?!? The Music score guys? Yeah, THOSE guys. Think about it- instead of just writing more music (which we love by the way) they went out and shot their own movie! They didn’t go half assed either, they got some genre favourites like Andrew Divoff (Wishmaster), Jason Carter(Babylon 5), and Tom Savini (You BETTER damn well know who he is…FX master…Dawn of the dead) then mixed in amazing effects and makeup, while composing their amazing music to go along with it all. Again: AS AN INDEPENDENT!!!

With that all being said, is this the greatest movie in the world? No. there are some failings, the younger cast is not the most experienced group of actors in the world, some of the effects might seem a bit ‘hokey’ to some, but I still have to give it up to Midnight Syndicate for going balls out to put out one of the best looking ‘independent’ films I’ve seen in a while! It’s a good time and fun as fuck. (there’s yer tagline Ed!!!)

NOW…let’s get to the ‘even more awesome’ the DVD set I got was a THREE disc set, it has the movie, the original soundtrack CD AND a ‘greatest hits’ Midnight Syndicate CD as well! That is a jam packed DVD/CD set for only 20 bucks… You can get it over at your local Hot Topic, or just online HERE

Since I’m not ‘rating’ the film in the same way I’ve done others in the past- I’ll say this: I thought it was fun and the 3 disc set is WELL worth picking this one up…

If yer really lazy- just order it here:

Former Zombieinfo feature (CHECK IT OUT HEREBilly Tackett (along with his wife Heather!) was there showing why he is one of the absolute best in Zombie art…. he has cool ass teeshirts and some wicked new art.  Part of me hates him…because I just can’t draw.  The other part of me  is happy he’s one of our friends…and the other part of me is just kind of hungry and sleepy.  ANYWAY- moving on!

This is just a SMALL sampling of the coolness that Zombie Buddy Productions had in their booth- good thing they have an online store HERE to show off more of their stuff…  Great folks and also a regular at Gen Con!
